So Long, America

It’s about 3pm on Monday afternoon, and in about 24 hours I’ll be at Newark airport checking my luggage and getting felt up by TSA agents. Can’t wait! Anywho, as of last night I’m all packed up and ready to roll, with the exception of a few things. I know you guys are dying to know what I have planned on my last day in the States, so you’ll be happy to know that I just finished dining on an exquisite and gourmet lunch of macaroni and cheese. As I’m writing this, I’m watching the snow melt off of our roof forming massive stalactite-esque icicles and I think to myself…I am really not going to miss the snow. As for the rest of my day, I’m going to be making my rounds to my close family and friends houses to say goodbye, buzzing my head, and celebrating my last supper of tacos with my mom, dad, and little brother. A good day, in my opinion.

My flight is at 9 tomorrow night on Virgin Airlines with a 12-hour layover in London. From London, I fly to Nairobi, Kenya, and from Nairobi, I will be taking a short flight to Arusha, Tanzania where I’ll be staying in a hotel for a night. The following morning, my group and I will be driving to our site in Manyara, where I’ll be living for the next month and a half or so. So much traveling, but I know it’ll be well worth it. I’m pretty anxious about the whole trip, and I have this almost nauseous feeling also, but I’m not too worried because I know it’s just me being nervous.

Next time you hear from me, I’ll hopefully be where I’m supposed to be, and I can’t wait to fill everyone in on what’s good! Take it easy everyone!

Amani na upendo,
Greg

Counting Down the Days

Hi everyone,

Ok, so I’m writing this blog for any of my friends, family, and loved ones who are interested in reading about how my semester abroad in East Africa is going. To be completely honest, I have no idea how accessible internet will be for me, so this blog might not make it past several entries, but I guess we’ll just have to cross our fingers and wait and see. If I can write and post on a fairly regular schedule though, that would be great! Hopefully you guys will take an occasional glimpse at this bad boy and follow along with my (mis)adventures throughout Northern Tanzania and Southern Kenya. I’ll be living near world-renowned national parks like Serengeti and Mount Kilimanjaro and studying some of the planet’s most majestic animals. Feel free to throw up comments, ask questions, or just leave some love as I’ll miss everyone a ton. As for the less literate of my friends, if I have enough internet, I’m going to see about posting some pictures on that handy, dandy facebook of mine.  So with that, I love you all, stay safe, and I’ll see you when I get home!

Amani na upendo (Peace and love),
Greg
